  • Star Conflict not starting on Linux [Solved]

I recently had some issues with Star Conflict on Linux. It basically got stuck on the loading screen and froze. I searched the forums a bit and now I just have to either run some commands or execute the script I wrote in order to start Star Conflict on Linux. (see below)

In order to have your account available, if you usually run it through Steam, you need to have the part that says echo "212070" in your script, because you will just see a login screen. Also make sure to have steam running while using the script below!

    export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=~/.local/share/Steam/ubuntu12_32/steam-runtime/i386/lib/i386-linux-gnu/:~/.local/share/Steam/ubuntu12_32/steam-runtime/i386/usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/
    LD_LIBRARY_PATH=~/.local/share/Steam/ubuntu12_32/steam-runtime/i386/lib/i386-linux-gnu/:~/.local/share/Steam/ubuntu12_32/steam-runtime/i386/usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/
    cd ~/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/common/star\ conflict/
    echo "212070" > steam_appid.txt
    ./StarConflict

  • Play Scrolls on Linux

To play Scrolls on Linux you just have to grab the client that has been posted on reddit some months ago, unpack the archive and double click the Scrolls file. It's as simple as that. It's the official client, but it's not listed on the official website.

Some users in the reddit post express concern if the Linux version will be maintained even though Mojang recently was acquired by Microsoft, but it seems to be the case for now.

    Download Scrolls for Linux

As posted in the link above, this is the link to the live version of the Scrolls client by Mojang:

    Scrolls for Linux works on:

    Tested:

    • Linux Mint Petra
    • Arch Linux

    Assumed:

    • Ubuntu

Why is it not on the official website?

My guess is, that the client is still experimental, so that it doesn't qualify as a product that is as finished and complete as the tablet, PC and Mac versions. For a company it's understandable that they don't advertise too much for it then, but it would be great to place a link for: Try the Linux Alpha/Beta on the main download page on the official website.

  • Rift: Ranger Guide and Macros

migrated content, originally posted by Sparky
Ranger: The highest Rogue DPS build yet?

The build is simple and not a premade build, You will have to set the souls yourself:

    • 12 Assassin
    • 61 Ranger
    • 3 Nightblade

Now before I explain how to use the Build, here's some Macros that you may find pretty useful:

    Macro 1: Builder

    #show Shadow fire
    Suppressmacrofailures
    Cast Shadow fire
    Cast Ace shot

    Macro 2: Finisher

    #Show Animalism
    Suppressmacrofailures
    Cast Animalism
    Cast Feral Aggression
    Cast Twin shot

Your abilities should be cast in this order:

Remember to always keep your pet up, either the Dire Wolf (PvP), Blood Raptor (Damage) or Razorbeast (Tank), Having your pet up will grant more DPS.

Buffs: Virulent Poison, Leeching Poison, Ravenous Instincts, Feral Instincts, Spirit of the Wilderness.

    Combat Abilities:

    • Splinter Shot
    • Piercing Shot
    • Builder (Macro 1) (Until Max Combo Points)
    • Finisher (Macro 2)

You may add abilities to your bar for other uses such as Break Free, Escape Artist, Rain of arrows and Concussive blast, If you enjoy PvP, Fleeting Instincts and Break Free always comes in handy.

Another Reminder, you can always add more action bars by Going to Options; Interface; Action Bars.

If you use this build, I hope you all enjoy it, Feel free to Comment on it, and if you have ideas for this Ranger build, Post it and I will see to adding it =)

    Have Fun =)

  • Rift Warrior Guides and Macros

Macros in Rift are combinations of actions, usually used to combine multiple spells into one ability/button. The purpose is usually to maximize damage, healing or damage mitigation.

To create a macro, just press ESC and press Macros or type /macro into the chat and hit ENTER

    Basics

By selecting a macro from the macro interface and then shift clicking any ability in your spellbook or interface, you will receive the ability name with the cast command like this: cast Doctrine of Authority, you can put one command on each line and the macro mechanics will go through them line by line.

Changing the ability shown by the macro

To give the macro the cooldown timer and picture of a specific ability you simply use the #show command like so: #show Doctrine of Authority.

    Preventing Macro Errors

The command to stop the Rift client from emitting all sorts of errors when you press a macro, like "Can only cast one ability per macro" or similar is:

    /suppressmacrofailures

    Writing good Rift Macros

Essentially the macros make it easier not to waste time and stay at your best rotation. For example as a Cleric Tank (full cleric macro thread) you could have a macro like this:

    #show Bolt of Radiance
    suppressmacrofailures
    cast Bolt of Radiance
    cast Reckoning

Line 1: shows the cooldown and icon of Bolt of Radiance
Line 2: don't annoy me with error messages
Line 3: If available, cast Bolt of Radiance
Line 4: If available, cast Reckoning (This ability does not have a cooldown, so it works as a fallback)

You can have as many abilities with a cooldown as you like between the first and the fallback ability, so after line 3, we could have more abilities that should be tried before that last in line.

  • Anniversary #1 THANK YOU!

(migrated post from about a year ago)

    One year of Unganked!

Hello everybody who is reading this! It's been exactly one year and we're so happy about all the things we have done. Playing video games is fun in the first place. Producing videos is fun too, as is fiddling with servers and setting up forums.

We have been playing a lot of things throughout the year, though mostly Hearthstone, but we've also explored some other games.

Our first video was Hearthstone - A Brief Introduction
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g5wJsixxJDQ) on January 30th, 2014.

We're 1-2 videos short from actually having published one per week and we should really really get our asses up to do some more. We will. ;)

    Some Numbers

We really didn't expect much when we started out, but it's actually alright, it's not like we're completely ignored and we appreciate every view, comment, up or downvote, like and so on. THANK YOU!

All data from January 30th 2014 until January 30th 2015:

    Most Popular Video

We figured out that we should totally do more tutorials, it seems that a lot of people wanted to know last year how to install Hearthstone on Linux, so the Installing Hearthstone on Linux video is the video that has been viewed the most of all our videos so far.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WZyEu2OrgzU

    What's next?

How the hell would we know?!

Oh no, right. We do! :D The frequency of the videos will depend on how much time we have, the quality will increase and maybe we'll even have some real video footage we can cut in!

    Games still on our list:

    • Minecraft
    • Skyrim
    • Dishonored
    • Slenderman
    • Vampire: The Masquerade

  • Colophon, How we record video games

A lot of things make this operation possible, so we want to give some credit to noteworthy software and gear we use and like a lot! It's split into two sections:

    • Software
    • Hardware

If you have any questions about how we do our Let's Play recordings, just let us know! We'd love to do a tutorial on something!

    Software

    Adobe Creative Suite

We use Adobe Premiere Pro CC to edit our videos and export them before putting them on YouTube and we consider it a great video editor!

    Fraps

Still one of the must-have recording tools on Windows!

    Quicktime

Quicktime does a great job for us when recording on MacOS

    NodeBB

NodeBB is our forum software and a next generation forum software. It's responsive, fast, running Node.js and absolutely essential to growing our community.

    Hardware

    Microphones

    Zoom H4N

We use the Zoom H4N for many of our recordings. It's a great and easy to use microphone with two XLR inputs.
