Publisher YouTube / Video Policy List

  • administrators

Sometimes it's hard to figure out what you're allowed to do with your videos and what not, especially in the video game industry.
We're trying to keep this big list of video game publishers, their games and if they give you the permission to publish and/or monetize these videos, for example with the YouTube partner program.
Below we have gathered a collection of different game publishers YouTube or video policies on publishing of their material and the monetization:

    2k Games

    Studios: Irrational Games
    Games: Bioshock / Bioshock Infinite

Question: Am I allowed to post game footage on YouTube or other websites? Can I use copyrighted material on fan sites if it is for non-commercial use and doesn't have spoilers?
Answer: Generally, 2K does not object to fans using materials for non-commercial uses in a manner which does not intentionally spoil the plot for others. "Non-commercial" means that you don't sell site membership, use the material to promote a product you sell on the site like a shirt or wallpaper, or use other advertising-driven monetization.

    Activision / Blizzard

Games: World of Warcraft, Starcraft, Diablo, Hearthstone

Note that Blizzard Entertainment's restriction that Productions be limited to "non-commercial" uses also means that you may not license a Production you have created to another company for a fee, or for any other form of compensation, without specific written permission from Blizzard Entertainment to do so. Blizzard Entertainment reserves the right to use its products for all commercial purposes. The only exceptions to this rule are if you participate in partner programs with YouTube,,,, or (the “Production Websites”) whereby a Production Website may pay you for views of a Production if you are accepted into their partner program.

    Bethesda Softworks

    Games: The Elder Scrolls (series)

We’re okay (and encourage) these videos being posted on video services like YouTube or on your personal website and/or blog. It’s also okay for you to monetize your videos via the YouTube partner program and similar programs on other video sharing sites.

    Edge of Reality

    Games: Loadout

Yes, you are hereby allowed to post and monetize videos, and we really appreciate you helping to spread the word about Loadout!
The only rule is that if you are posting bugs, please mark those as unlisted, so they don't show up in searches.

    Hi Rez Studios

    Games: Smite

Am I able to show and monetize content on YouTube or other partner websites?
YES. Most definitely yes. Apply for written permission to monetize SMITE content by sending e-mail to

    Gaijin Entertainment

    Games: War Thunder, Star Conflict

You are free to monetize your videos via the YouTube partner program and similar programs on other video sharing sites.

    Games: Minecraft, Scrolls, Cobalt

You are allowed to create videos of Mojang games, upload or stream from YouTube or other video sites, and monetize those videos. It's free advertising for us, and we like watching you play our games, provided that you don't yell for the entirety of the video. Visit for the most up-to-date language on monetization, and for additional information.

    Games: Limbo

You want to publish LIMBO-footage (e.g. a review or Let’s Play on YouTube)
You have our permission to do so. We simply ask that you do not mute the audio or present the audio without their corresponding visuals. Adding your voice-over commentary over the game audio is absolutely fine.

    Games: FEZ
We received a very nice email from Polytron telling us we could put footage of FEZ on YouTube!

    S2 Games

    Games: Heroes of Newerth

You are free to use any videos, images, or sounds from Heroes of Newerth for your own videos. At S2 Games we encourage you to host, embed, or otherwise share any media you or we produce, go ahead, get the word out.
If you wish to monetize your videos through programs such as the YouTube partner program you are free to do so as long as it's non-commercial. Non-commercial doesn't mean it can't have an ad in it, it means that you can't charge others to use, view, or sell it.

    Trion Worlds Inc.

    Games: Rift

Monetization of YouTube Game Play Footage: Users may wish to participate in YouTube’s revenue sharing program by placing advertisements alongside videos of authorized Game play. Trion grants permission to participate provided that users abide by the restrictions on the advertisements set forth in detail in the updated Terms of Use.
